SCULPTOR MILOŠ ZET - WALLS, PLINTHS AND MOCK-UPS
5. 2. 2020 – 12. 2. 2020
House of Arts
In his work Martin Zet thematicises recent totalitarian history which is still not a closed chapter at home or elsewhere in Europe. It touches on the painful condition of the Czech cultural milieu which exhibits great vigour and creative potential alongside pathogenic features deforming our cultural memory. Aware of the fact that the best defence against suppressed memory is the memory itself, Martin Zet returns to thematicising the work of his father, the sculptor Miloš Zet (1920–1995), closely connected with the official culture of communist Czechoslovakia. Zet’s exhibition will inform about the creative process that led to the sculptural work of his father displayed in the public space – from sketches that he completed on a scale fitting the particular situation, to their actual sculpting in material, up to their removal after 1989.
