Anna Hulačová (CZE)
The sculptor Anna Hulačová graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the Studio of Monumental Work of Jiří Příhoda. Later, she worked at the Academy of Fine Arts as an assistant in the Sculpture Studio for several years. Her figurative work draws on the legacy of folk arts and crafts, but is also inspired by pop culture, the art of natural peoples, ancient cultures, etc. She combines traditional and natural materials with purely contemporary and synthetic ones in an extraordinary and sensitive way. In recent years, she has achieved significant success on the international art scene.
Anna Hulačová created a pair of sculptural beehives for Brno Art Open 2022. The garden of the Augustinian monastery, where Johann Gregor Mendel kept various species of bees and tried to crossbreed them, was selected for their location. Hulačová chose bee colonies from the current monastery to populate her hives.
