Csilla Nagy, Slávo Krekovič: Symbionts 2.0

We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition Csilla Nagy, Slávo Krekovič: Symbionts 2.0 on Tuesday 4 April 2024 at 6 pm at the Jaroslav Kral Gallery. The exhibition will open in the presence of curator Jennifer DeFelice and the participating artists.

The international group exhibition Beyond The Sound will open simultaneously on the first floor of the Art House.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Symbionts 2.0 is a new version of a project by artist and ceramicist Csilla Nagy and musician, musicologist and sound artist Slavo Krekovic originally created in 2021. The concept of Symbionts began as a speculative reflection on the future of life on the planet. Formally, the objects are inspired by the study of marine fungi of the Porifera species representing an ancient blind evolutionary branch. The project aims to explore the interrelationships between humans, the environment, nature and technology through the creation of hybrid environments in which the boundaries between nature and technology, human and non-human (or post-human) actors are blurred. For their exhibition at the Brno House of Arts, Slavo and Csilla plan to create a site-specific environment. It will consist of sonic interactive ceramic objects which are data-connected and thus capable of communication based on the reception of conditions in the surrounding environment. Symbionts algorithmically transform sounds from a shared and freely available web database. The ceramic objects have varying metallic glazes that reflect the surrounding environment mirroring their interaction component.
