Denisa Ponomarevová (CZ)

Denisa Ponomarevová is a graduate of the Drawing and Graphic Arts Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology. She works with hypothetical and personal symbolism of digital space and internet communication. Her work refers to the system of emoticons and simplified visual forms or signs existing in the virtual environment. She decomposes their meaning through drawing and material (textile) elements, which are often part of a larger whole or site-specific installations, and therefore must be perceived as such. In her work, Denisa organically responds to the ambivalence, reactivity, apparent happiness, overload, toxicity and elusiveness of not only virtual feelings and affects, but also the ways in which the digital age influences and changes us in relation to ourselves and others.
