JIŘÍ KOVANDA: PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST AS A LITTLE BOY

When I was a little boy, one of my favorite toys was a string. My mother and I went for a walk every afternoon, and I really enjoyed pulling the string behind me. The longer, the better, nothing attached, just an ordinary string. My parents didn't like it, they insisted that they would bring me a toy car or a wheelchair, at least something ... They were probably ashamed that it looked like they didn't even have a toy for their son. So they usually didn't let me.
