Kuai Shen (EC/DE)

Kuai Shen has long been interested in insect life. His art projects use sophisticated audiovisual installations and explore the relationship between human society and the behaviour of ants as social insects through contemporary technologies.

In CROSSING Kuai Shen performs a visual hybridization of ants from the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest and European forest ants. The project also included research on ants in Hynčice - Mendel's birthplace - which was carried out in collaboration with leading Czech myrmecologists, Klára Bezděčková and Pavel Bezděčka from the Museum of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands in Jihlava. The installation is located in the park behind the House of Arts in Malinovského Square.
