Saša Spačal (SLO)

Saša Spačal presents herself as a post-medial artist, her work focuses on bio-art and related research of living systems. Part of her work originates in the field of sound art. Her recent projects have focused on cultivating mushrooms, as the artist has been looking for parallels with human society in their ecosystems. She has had a number of exhibitions in major international institutions, and her work has been included in prestigious publications. Saša Spačal has also introduced herself to the Czech audience several times in recent years – for example in the NTK Gallery, in the Školská 28 Gallery or in Prague City Gallery. She lives in Ljubljana.

Saša Spačal created a multimedia installation inspired by the famous Mendel greenhouse where hybridization experiments were conducted. THE REPOSITORY OF A YEARNING HYBRID is a herbarium, a small museum exhibition in the shape of a garden greenhouse, which is located in the garden of the Villa Löw-Beer.
