The Statue of St. Christopher by Marius Kotrba Will Remain in Brno Until Summer

According to legend, Saint Christopher was a strong man who helped pilgrims cross a river. One day, while carrying a child on his shoulders, the child grew heavier with each step—revealing that it was Jesus Christ, carrying the weight of the world. The sculptor Marius Kotrba captured this concept in his unique style, transforming it into a light, carefree scene.
In 2005, Kotrba created a four-meter bronze statue of Saint Christopher with the child Christ on his shoulders. The statue exists in two copies—one has stood overlooking the Olomouc bypass since 2006, while the other remains in private ownership and travels around the Czech Republic.
Currently, it graces the area in front of the Mahen Theatre in Brno, drawing the attention of passers-by to an exhibition at the Brno House of Arts. Although the exhibition will close on Sunday, March 2, the sculpture will remain in Brno until the end of July. This is great news not only for Brno residents but also for visitors, who will have more time to admire this impressive artwork.
