Šimon Kadlčák
(*1990) functions interdisciplinarily in the environment of today’s visual art. Apart from his own artistic practice he has co-founded the experimental off-space Zaazrak|Dornych (with Kryštof Netolický), writes reviews for the journals Artalk, A2, Fotograf etc., participates in the running of the ArtMap project as a web editor and manager, and this year has curated a series of exhibitions and podcasts for the TIC Gallery. In the past he worked as a curator in the Umakart gallery in Brno. He co-wrote the book Atlas of Spontaneous Art (with Pavel Konečný, 2016) mapping the works of self-taught artists in the public space in the CR. Šimon Kadlčák focuses in his work on the subject of the dissolving identity of an individual in a group or in relation to altered states of consciousness, which has led him to take an interest in autonomy, freetekkno, football and the Hussite movement. He has recently presented his work at solo and group shows, for example, in the Prague galleries 35m2, Jelení and NGP, in PLATO Ostrava, Kunsthalle in Bratislava and in the Emil Filla Gallery in Ústí nad Labem. He currently lives in Brno, where he also graduated from the Intermedia Department at the FaVU VUT.
