Three Principles

The paintings of Tadeáš Kotrba reflect the artist’s own experiences and memories, invoking the feelings behind them as well as existential thoughts of a more general nature. They stem from the artist’s inner world, his subjective interpretation of phenomena which are significant to him in connection with his sensitised perception of the events around him and spontaneous responses to the immediate environment or a visual impulse. A sequence of stories, experienced or fictitious, situations linked to real perceptions and evocations of possible life positions are interpreted through landscape, architecture, figurative motifs – the presence of man is suggested by subtle drawing, a painterly gesture.
